In 2022, approximately nearly 4 infants died each week due to sleep-related causes across the state of Georgia.<\/strong>
A majority of these deaths were preventable.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sudden Unexpected Infant Death, or SUID, refers to the sudden and unexpected death of a child under 1 year of age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), which is a specific set of unknown causes of infant death<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Accidental suffocation in the sleep environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Other unknown causes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    27% <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    of SUID cases in Georgia in 2022 were the result of suffocation in the sleep environment, the most easily preventable cause of SUID.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
